Toshiba announced yesterday that it will cease to develop and manufacture HD DVD players. This is the final nail in HD DVD’s coffin. As we suspected, Blu-ray will be crowned king of the next-gen HD disc formats.
In case you missed it last week. The Hollywood writers strike is finally over!
Here are a few quotes from the official WGA announcement:
“On Tuesday, members of the Writers Guilds East and West voted by a 92.5% margin to lift the restraining order that was invoked on November 5th. The strike is over.”
“Writing can resume immediately. If you were employed when the strike began, you should plan to report to work on Wednesday.”
“…with the establishment of the WGA jurisdiction over new media and residual formulas based on distributor’s gross revenue (among other gains) we are confident that the results are a significant achievement not only for ourselves but the entire creative community, now and in the future.”
Here’s a blast from the past for all you Illustrator nuts! This is the original VHS video that shipped with version 1.0 of Adobe Illustrator back in 1987.
This is not good news for fans of the hit television show Heroes. According to this source, the writer’s strike may force Heroes to air a season finale on December 3rd after only 11 episodes. Let’s hope the strike is going to be resolved before then!

Spielberg talked about his decision to shoot on film despite George Lucas’ attempts to convince him to go digital. After all, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
On a weekly basis I find myself using a bunch of different cables like XLRs, 1/4″, HDMI, HD-SDI, etc. Now, I was paying attention in university during my audio techniques classes when my teacher taught us how to properly wrap cables. Mind you, this was quite a few years back and it seems cable wrapping techniques have come a long way since then.
